I don’t know about you but I can’t imagine my life without all the fun of traveling. You get to learn so much about people, cultures, entrepreneurs and food. One of bad ass habits is to meditate every where I go. It is fun to meditate in new environment and new energies.

It is summer time so most probably you will be traveling; now that doesn’t mean that you have to leave your meditation at home. We can meditate anytime and anywhere, remember? So here are a few tips for meditating when you are out.

  1. There is no fun in meditating in your hotel room, obviously you want to get out in open and meditate. In that case make sure that your things are packed and closed to you securely.
  2. Make sure you carry a light weight mat with you or maybe a simple piece of cloth which you can spread out on any surface and mediate.
  3. It is a good idea to bring your favorite music along but nothing is as much fun as meditating to new sounds in new area. Being the awesome one that you are, you can even meditate in the noisiest places.
  4. I don’t know any place which have rules against meditation but make sure local law is not against such practices in public.
  5. Try looking for a local meditation group or retreat and plan do visit that place. Talk to people about how they meditate, what got them interested and how they feel about it? Share your idea, URL of this blog (www.meditationrocks.us) and connect to them. You belong to a worldwide community of meditators.
  6. Often people end up with upset stomach when they have to eat out too much. Meditation can do wonders there. Just feel how relaxed your energy system and digestive system is when meditating, you can fake it too.
  7. Traveling, sometimes, is too tiring. 10 minutes meditation before you go to sleep can do wonders for you.
  8. Not related to meditation but it is summer, so drink a lot. Have you ever tried mindfulness when drinking water? (Good idea for a post later, what say you?).
  9. Take a technology break; I had to take a week-long technology break because my laptop charger was broken. I can’t tell you how refreshed mind gets. Instead try connecting with people mentally, yea telepathy. (Hey I should write about that one too).
  10. Use your creative arts to capture the moments. Pain, make a video, write a poem just do anything and frame those memories. Anything that takes you to your full potential is meditation too.
  11. Have fun. Because life is supposed to be fun.

Bonus Tip: Wear cool meditation rocks T-Shirt on your vacation.  It will be so easier for other people who love meditation to find you. Who knows you might end up as their meditation guru?
