In previous post, Karthikeyan shared his wonderful way of meditating while cycling. I explored it myself and it was wonderful! Cycling just for fun, just for yourself. I gave thought to how actually it worked and here is what I learned.
Cycling is very popular among children; it’s a symbol of freedom and growth. Cycling liberates us and makes us feel good. God knows how much I love the feeling of air brushing through my hair and making hissing sound near my ears. All this experience is close to heart. Our mind is not there and this is meditation.
Karthikeyan has mentioned all the things that should be taken care of, I’d just add that have fun. Don’t think “I am going on Cyclomeditation 6 in the evening for 25 mintues.” Just go when you feel like! Don’t think that you are meditation or cycling. As there is no mind in meditation, there is no intent of meditation. There is just meditation, there is just fun.
So go out and cycle with yourself or with friends or family. Enjoy the experience of being in alignment.
And there is an article from the guardian for the scientific one among us. Who are seeking a proof that cycling actually does help.
“Physical activity is effective in the treatment of clinical depression, and can be as successful as psychotherapy or medication, particularly in the long term.” – the guardian
So go cycling, keep meditating.
Namaste.
