Meditation Corner

Guide to Simple and Minimalist Meditation Corner

by King Sidharth

in The Basics

I’ve wanted to talk on this topic since so long. Finally, the day has come. It’s good practice to dedicate a corner or a room to meditation. Since you will gain so much out of this sacred practice, it makes sense to create this space with your personal sense of being.

Why Meditation Corner?

There are many reasons but mainly because:

  • It will help you discipline yourself to meditate everyday.
  • It will create a sacred sense of being.
  • It will soon be filled with positive vibes and spiritual energy by just being around that space.
  • If you are a teen, your mom will be deeply pleased by a clean corner in your room. (Caution: She might try to hijack it, mine did!)

You will discover more and more and more reasons on the way.

So you have decided to dedicate a corner? If yes – brilliant! If no – superb! Stick around, we have cookies for you (err.. both of you, yeah!)

How Big Should Be A Meditation Corner/Room

As the title says- it can be a corner and even a room. And by corner I mean a small space in room not necessarily the four corners. It depends on how big you want to, you can and you feel like making it.

So if you are a teenager who constantly fights with your parents for bigger room – you can throw some stuff in another corner and just empty a corner. Voila! You found your lost iPod under the clothes!

And if you are a grown-up child, you can try creating a space anywhere (I’m jealous!) but preferably away from drawing room/living room as they are barely personal.

What Should I Put There?

For starters: just a mattress, and a few cushions or maybe something a bit more comfortable. Nothing fancy, we will decorate it with positives vibes and sacred objects later. First, let’s give ourselves a prize for doing and learning so much – the cookies :

Let’s Meditate.

    Dear Pardeep,
    A Question! I love Questions.
First of all Welcome to Meditation Rocks!

Now answer to your question. I think everyone should meditate. In fact, everyone is meditating some way or the other: http://www.meditationrocks.us/how-to-start-medi… And Why? Because meditation is as necessary as bathing. It's a bath for our soul.

Without bathing, our soul or our connection to our real self get's hazy with opinions and judgment and when we meditate, all this clutter is cleared and with them is cleared every problem in our lives.
I hope it was helpful. Feel free to ask more questions as it would enlighten us all.
Thanks, hope to see you here more often.

Hi. I am a grown-up child and have a meditation corner of the couch. My house is overrun with children and a spouse! They are in every room. But I love that space of the couch. It's mine in the early morning and after the kids go to bed. And when I approach it to meditate, I instantly feel a sense of peace wash over me. I try to keep the end table next to it clean and the space in front of it clean, even though my eyes are shut when I'm meditating. Keep on keeping on, brother. Love your work!

  • http://www.KingSidharth.com King Sidharth

That's exciting isn't it? I love to see it being left unguraded and how everyone messes it up (they are drawn to the energy) and how easily it recovers back and in those moments when I am helping it to get back in shape – I meditate.

There is great love here for you. So nice to know you :D

I added meditation to my repetoire this week. I can last 10 minutes then get antsy. It’s been a bit strange, my thoughts wander a bit. There are literally a thousand thoughts buzzing in my mind, it’s difficult to quiet it but I’m sure that will change.
I listen to a a youtube video-( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zh-klfBJlHc) when I can’t sleep. The guy’s voice is super soothing.

I’m setting up my meditation space right now because I’ve been doing it in bed and fall instantly to sleep. Not a good thing before work…

    I’m a fledging blogger too :0)

It is impossible to think of nothing. Even our basic survivalist brain would be aware of things going on around us that might put us in danger. The whole thing is a load of horseschit

I don’t think my mother would have ever hijack a corner in my room even if it was clean. LOL I am the only one who would ever think of creating sacred space to meditate in.
