Improving handwriting with Meditation

by King Sidharth

in New Ideas

I know, meditation and handwriting seem to be totally unrelated. But trust me there is a deep connection and Let’s dig it out now.

“Good handwriting is the symbol of literacy” – Mahatma Gandhi

Cool handwritingI am not a handwriting expert and I am not a meditation expert either. I am just an explorer like you, journeying through this wonderful world and sharing my experience with you and inviting you to do the same.

Handwriting

So what’s the link. Handwriting is not just some marks we make that could be translated into thoughts. It is much more than that, it represents our core personality. It represents our own take on concepts and thoughts. That’s why we write our lover’s name in best possible way and we don’t write name of those we don’t like.

Meditation

Meditation brings out the best in you – the real you. The God like divinity is brought to surface and that true being cannot have unreadable handwriting. When we are improving inside, when our thoughts are enlightened, our handwriting reflects it.

Improve it!

  • Take a blank piece of paper and a pen. Sit in meditation for 5 min (any meditation you like or have explored).
  • Open your eyes and start writing.
  • Write random things, whatever you want.
  • Mind will speed up the ideas, but take control and go slow.
  • You don’t have to fill the page, just write what you want.
  • Write for 5 min and stop.
  • Keep the paper some where safe.
  • Repeat everyday and keep collecting the papers (to see improvements)
  • Don’t try to improve

The catch is, don’t try to improve or make your handwriting beautiful. Let it come itself, let yourself feel the beauty that is already there.

Don’t copy

Do not open a book in front of you to copy and write. Just write what random thoughts come in mind. “Baby sings melody.” “Cat is on the biggest mat” etc. are fine. Even words like “Venkarzentuita” are fine. Just write what comes from inside.

Don’t repeat that sentence

Many childrens’ cursive writing books follow the technique of repeating same sentence 10-15 times over and over again. It is fine for kids who are learning to make marks. But in reality, we don’t write a sentence over and over again. We have rushed stream of ideas or information. And it is better to practice practically!

Share your progress

After 2 weeks of practicing this exercise, you will see huge improvements (I started it 2 weeks ago and I am seeing results already). Click a photo of your first page and latest one. And send it to us, or upload on our facebook page wall. Share your achievements and enjoy the compliments.
Namaste

hey a small mistake Sid...mahatma Gandhi always had unreadable handwriting...but still he is considered a very noble man due to his deeds. But oh well...thats just an exception!
In Canada (or maybe in any country outside India), teachers tend to give school work on computers. Everything is on computers..notes, homework completion, exams, etc etc.
No use of pens and papers at all. thats really sad in a way!

But am really happy that you posted something about this topic....it was there at the back of my mind ..but somehow always forgot to tell u!

  • Wow! That sounds awesome... making mom happy is one of those cute things. Why not write a post about it?

  • Sidarth, and excellent practice. Free form is the only way to go when trying this practice because meditation itself is free-form, no thinking or planning involved.

I forget how my handwriting looks, too much typing on the laptop ;)
  • Thanks man! Yes I agree, let if flow is the tagline!
Lol! tell me about it.... I would have forgotten it to. But I do a lot of brainstorming on paper and yes I have school so...
