Time to Meditate

How Long Should I Meditate?

by King Sidharth

in Q&A,The Basics

There is no rule about how long you ‘should’ meditate. It’s more like how long would you like to meditate.

I recommend minimum 5 minutes and at most 15 minutes. In no ways would I recommend it to be beyond 30 minutes (well unless you want to challenge yourself).

Reason being that mediation takes you to best vibrations in matter of seconds, practicing that higher vibration and good feeling in meditation is not the aim. Aim is to take it in other parts of life. Feel that good, calm and peaceful all the time.

Meditation is not just once done and once over process, it’s continuum of good emotion / vibrations. So meditate for 5-15 minutes and just bounce around and see if you can keep up with those amazing emotions.

You really want to do that because as you do that consciously, you will get better and better.

Do you have any questions related to meditation? Or would you just like to say ‘Hi!’? Head over to contact page and drop me a mail.

Sound advice Sid! I like to sit for 30 minutes but throw in 15 minute sessions like this morning. You make a great point in that the aim is to make life meditation in action. This is why the great seers and teachers preach that the goal isn't to sit around meditating all day. We were blessed with a body so that we can move into action. Commune with God during your 15 or 30 minutes in stillness then do the same for the rest of the day while interacting with God's creatures.

Enjoy the rest of your day/night buddy :)

Great to see you back, Ryan.

I agree. It's about tasting the bliss and recreating is everywhere (as much as you can). I've just returned from a 2 day amazing (and a bit hectic) vacation. The best chance for me to get into best mode is meditate and remember who I really am.

Hope to see you here more often. :P

I was recently at a meditation retreat and found a meditation bench a
good way to sit for long period of times. Now I’m considering purchasing one,
but am unsure of which brand to get. I’m fairly tall (6’3″) and have back and knee
issues. I’ve seen various brands and websites and was wondering if anyone would
recommend one that they have used and like. thanks!

Peace of mind is important and that is the purpose of each religion. Common Halls for Meditation and philosophical teachings can be build in each places. The places of worship already exist can be converted to such Halls. Governments can support this for a secular atmosphere. Inviting all of your views for a talk on this.

I have meditated before but I need more depth over a sustained period of time.I’m seeing a psychologist for stress and resulting depression, and he is very supportive of a meditation retreat. He recommends 3-5 days, not the 10 day vipasanna type right now. What kind of meditation retreat, and how long should it be, to de-stress from an extremely intense job.
