I’ve tried to convey this idea before but I thought it’s worth writing this again. What happens when you have free time at hand? Do you look for backlogs to clear up? Or do you start doing something so it’s easier for you later? Or just take a nap?

Why not just do nothing for a change. By doing nothing I don’t mean doing things that result in nothing. I mean doing absolutely nothing. No thinking, no working, no sleeping – just be. Just meditate.

Why?

Life is not a checklist that one day will finish and you will say good-bye. You will never get it done. But you are not a do-er you are being and there is so much fun in feeling your being.

Have you ever taken time to feel who you really are? Take that time – do nothing and just be. So you can know yourself.

How?

Meditate for 15 minutes.

After that…

Do share how you felt about yourself after doing nothing. I am sure you will have a story to tell, a story of change in perception. I am eager to hear it.

This post rocks, I can tell.

In my first video on Meditation Rocks! I talked about meditation inducing similar effects as drugs but without any side-effects. Since then, I’ve had this discussion with so many.

I thought it’d be good to put up an explanation. Not that I owe you one, but because you wanted one.

Drugs diffuse your focus so you cannot think in detailed way you are accustomed to. And meditation does similar thing – it points your focus to such a non-expanding thought that you almost think nothing. As a result – both happy and unhappy thought cease.

Both diffuse focused thinking to the point where it is hardly noticeable. But Marijuana users don’t agree that it is as much fun because meditation still needs conscious effort and that is a good thing.

As you consciously practice mediation your control over your mind increases. Now a far better thing would be to practice a good feeling emotion rather than meditation, but that is a bit off tack here.

So meditation can be a great escape for people who are seeking relief from drug addiction. Just start mediating. You will have your control back.

What do you think?

Yesterday I published book review of the book ‘the Third Jesus’ by Deepak Chopra on my blog. In that book I found some interesting insights on what Jesus thought about meditation.

Jesus’s Prayers Accompanied Meditation

Description of Jesus praying sound so much like meditation, but thanks to translation and editing through thousands of years it’s more like ‘worship’ for modern Christians.

Hints from Bible

Here are some experts from Bible (not directly from Jesus) which are absolutely an artistic definition of meditation:

“Be still and know that I am God.” {Psalm 46}

“Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him.” {Psalm 37}

In the following verse (Gnostic) Jesus speaks about overcoming dualism, which is much discussed topic among meditators:

Jesus said, “When you make the two one, you will come the sons of men.” {Thomas 172}

Often Jesus would ask his disciples to stop worrying and be still and have faith in God, he taught them how to pray and asked them to be quiet – these all mentions were so much like meditation.

That’s not All…

After thousands of years of manipulation with biblical documents, one cannot dig out direct instances but hints remain. Every great personality does meditate is some form or the other – we call it the art of doing nothing.

It was not a surprise to know that God-consciousness teacher like Jesus was indeed a meditator. Now this claim has received much opposition from devout Christians, epsecially from those who never studied bible, who think that meditation is a religious ritual from east and Christ would have never supported it.

But what they fail to see is messiah’s teachings which point directly at meditation. I am not here to justify this claim for I am not alone claiming this; all learned people know it as a fact. There is no argument that I can present to convince them against their will I can just say – Jesus would surely approve of breathing consciously and that’s what meditation is.

Do share your thoughts in comments. Also do read the book review of the Third Jesus on my blog.

It’s weekend again. Time to look back at progress through we made this week. I said ‘we’ so you got to tell me what all you learned and what all you experienced. Is there any transformation you noticed in yourself? Some changes begin to occur? Do share.

Remember we had last week? There were loads of responses, and thanks for that.( If you have not taken it take it now, there are just 5 questions.) Most of readers described meditation precisely. It was so awesome to see that we all have really learned a lot.

But!…. I don’t Know How to Meditate

But there were many people who were not meditating. ‘I don’t know’ how was the biggest problem. Now, one can easily dig this blog to learn how to meditate. But those posts are scattered so I made a guide on ‘How to Meditate’.

This guide is for those who want to meditate but don’t know how. It’s still under construction; I need your help to complete it. Go through the guide and let me know if I’ve missed something, suggestions comments- all are welcome.

Please note that many articles mentioned there are not yet online and will be published in future. I really want to build something that you can refer to your friends when they ask you, “What happened to you? You are just calm and happy all the time!”

and you will tell them, “Ah! I meditate.”

And they will say “Wow! I wish I could do that…”

“Well why not?”

“I don’t know how!”

“That’s not a problem. There is awesome guide on internet on how to meditate. I will send you the link.”

Here is the link to guide again.

Is that ‘guide’ something that you can talk about like this? Maybe not yet – that’s why I need your help to develop it.

Here is a small survey you cal fill up to provide a feedback or just leave comments.

Enjoy your weekend.

Namaste

This is the time of the week where we have loads of fun, talk about fun stuff and enjoy at our best. It’s like a relaxing feeling after hard work of weekdays but I have a question to ask: Why just weekends? Why not everyday? It just takes 5 min. of meditation to be the best of you and enjoy everything.

You can meditate while eating (it can be a good weight control strategy), you can do it anywhere and anytime. Why? Well don’t ask me that I can flood you with reasons. But I will not tell you a single benefit. In fact, I will say that there is no benefit of meditation. None! Nada!

Even if there are, I am not aware of them. Will you be kind enough to enlighten me on the benefits you have experienced? Look back at your life when you didn’t meditate at all and now when you have meditated. If you have not, please do it now, and tell me what change you see.

I really want to know, is this meditation really worth it? Worth talking about? Worth blogging about? Worth time? Worth effort? Worth no-thought?

I wonder…

Ah! I am tired of my blah blah blah! I am the one who’s always talking and preaching. Today I am going to sit back and let you talk! Go on and tell me your favourite meditation process.

If you have a bit of time then do let me know these things too:

How long have you been meditating?

Where did you did you find out about meditation?

Your favourite method/technique.

Any questions related to meditation?

But if you don’t have much time or don’t like typing – just tell me about your fav. Technique. Let’s hear it! Show us how good you are.
